Have you ever been invited  to a formal event, searched high and low for the perfect gown, only to have the trauma of seeing that same gown on someone else?

While I was working in the formal wear business, I had the same question posed to me time and again:  Do I register my gowns?  Well, yes, I did but this works only for making sure I didn't sell the same gown to someone going to the same event.  This wasn't hard for me to do since I did not purchase multiples of the same gown for my showroom.  

Other shops just like my own can and will register their gowns but within their own shop.   Unless there is an affiliation between the shops,  they can't possibly know what has been sold by the other store, and can only guarantee their shop won't sell another like it.

I toyed with ideas for months on how to solve this dilemma and, if you have ever experienced this, it is truly a dilemma.  I came up with the idea to open a website where the individual could register their own gowns,  regardless of where it was purchased, staying anonymous to the searchers, but providing information that indeed this gown has already been purchased for that particular event.

Basically, this site gives you the opportunity to register your gown, make it public to the world that this gown will be worn at this event, but not tell the world who will be wearing it.

However, I cannot 100% guarantee you won't have this unfortunate and uncomfortable experience by registering your gown here.  I cannot stop others from purchasing the same gown. This site is only as good as the people who use it . It is in your best interest to tell everyone about it so they can tell everyone about it and so on.  The more people who know about and use "thatsmygown.com", the less likely it is to see your gown staring  back at you.
